Treat yo garments right!

Quite simply put, the embellishments on your garments should outlive the garment itself if cared for correctly – and of course were a top quality job in the first place….. Like all of Shifty’s work.

Firstly know what the washing advice symbols for the garment mean. Normally they can be found on a tag either in the side seam or in the neck seam.

The real meaning is this…..

They can vary from brand to brand the main things you need to be able to figure out are wash temperature, wash method, tumble drying and ironing instructions.

Embroidery
– Avoid spraying stain remover directly onto the embroidery – it may ruin the colour of the stitching
– Make sure to zip up all zips and press together all velcro on clothing going into the wash with embroidered items to stop catching on the embroidered area
– Iron inside out and do no heavily steam the embroidered area

Screenprinting
– Wash at 30 degrees celsius max
– Turn all printed garments inside out to wash
– Tumble dry on cool-warm not hot
– Do not leave exposed to sun for long periods of time
– Do not iron directly over prints – turn the garment inside out to iron or iron around the print

Plastisol and vinyl transfers
– Wash at 30 degrees celsius max
– Do not scrub transfers – they may start to lift
– Turn all transfer garments inside out to wash
– Do not tumble try
– Do not leave exposed to sun for long periods of time
– Do not iron directly over prints – turn the garment inside out to iron or iron around the print

You pay a lot of money to have your personal logo on your garments make sure you don’t ruin that by not caring for them correctly.
